Peter O'Neill

Chair

Parent of a profoundly deaf child who is now aged 38, I have many years of experience in the Deaf Community and extensive first-hand knowledge of the difficulties and barriers the Deaf Community face every day. The importance of accessible professional sign language interpreters and opportunities for Deaf people to meet, socialise, and discuss everyday life cannot be understated. Professionally, I worked in the engineering supply industry until 2003 when I started my own business, predominantly at managerial level with responsibility for multi-discipline departments employing up to 40 people.

Edward McLuskey

Secretary

Eddie McLuskey is a co-founder of Deaf Services Lanarkshire, established alongside his wife, Elizabeth McLuskey. He brings a wealth of experience from a varied career spanning engineering, military service, electrical trades, education, and management. With a long-standing commitment to improving access, inclusion, and support for Deaf people, Eddie has played an important role in strengthening the organisation's connection with the Deaf community, and his broad professional background provides valuable knowledge and insight in his role as Secretary of the Board.

William Tague

Board Member

I first came to Deaf Services Lanarkshire seeking a certified BSL course after my son was born profoundly deaf; learning BSL transformed our ability to communicate. Such courses are scarce, and the chance to progress toward interpreter certification is a much-needed service. Having seen the group's excellent work, I was pleased to join the board. I worked as a Veterinary Surgeon for 40 years and ran my own practice for 32 years, and the business skills I gained, bookkeeping, health and safety, employment legislation, and teamwork, will help support DSL going forward.

June Greening

Board Member

June has proudly served on the Deaf Services Lanarkshire Board for the past two years, helping to support good governance, strategic planning, and informed decision-making. Her studies in Accounting and Business Management have strengthened her knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and organisational planning. As a Deaf person, she brings lived experience and a strong understanding of Deaf culture and the challenges Deaf people can face, and she is passionate about ensuring the Deaf community's voice is heard and that accessibility, inclusion, and equality remain at the heart of everything DSL does.

George Drinnan

Board Member

George became a Trustee of Deaf Services Lanarkshire because he cares deeply about the Deaf community and the invaluable work the charity does, believing everyone should have equal access to support, opportunities, and a strong sense of community. As a Trustee, he brings a willingness to listen, learn, and work collaboratively with fellow trustees, staff, volunteers, and the wider Deaf community, and is committed to contributing his skills and experience so that even more Deaf people and their families can benefit from the charity's services in the years ahead.

Gillian

Board Member

Gillian is a Deaf woman with a strong understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community, and brings a range of skills and valuable lived experience to the Board. With a background that includes working for British Deaf News and qualifications in Graphic Design and IT, she is passionate about supporting Deaf Services Lanarkshire and is keen to contribute, learn, and help shape the organisation's future.
